It all began in 1899 when 17-year-old William Scholl gained his first experience in a small shoe store in Chicago. The breakthrough came in the 1960s when people started to realize the benefits of an active lifestyle. Because regular exercise was time-consuming and often dull, Dr. Scholl introduced his famous sandals in 1959 under the name ‘Original Exercise Sandal,’ designed to train the wearer’s legs with every step. In the following years, the sandal was renamed ‘Scholl Pescura’ and worn by numerous celebrities who were fans of its comfort, versatility, and fashionability, from Jean Shrimpton in the 1960s to Audrey Hepburn in the 1970s, and from Kirstin Dunst and Geri Halliwell in the 1990s to Sarah Jessica Parker and Michelle Williams in the 2000s. Today, the Scholl Pescura is still the highlight of the collection, complemented with trendy styles every season. This demonstrates that Scholl, like no other, shows that comfort, functionality, and style can go hand in hand in fashion. It’s no wonder that the brand has had some exclusive collaborations over the years with Ganni, Eres, … and recently with Re/Done. In the coming months, we can expect a Pescura Ibiza style and the first fully sustainable Pescura flat. Italian Excellence Designed in Italy, Scholl products are also lovingly handcrafted there by skilled artisans with attention to detail and passion. All Scholl footwear is made from carefully selected high-quality materials such as FSC-certified beech and lime wood, premium leather, suede, … The iconic buckle and screw details are part of the identity. In short, wearable art to enjoy with every step!
