Did you know that Venice is also a centre of perfumery? The city bathing in luxury and mystery functioned as a the transit port for perfumes from the east and also as the turntable for rare wood, herbs, silk, glassware, jewelry and cosmetics.

Storie Veneziane by Valmont helps us to remember this. The bottles with the transparent color masks are an ode to the famous Murano glass that gained its reputation in the 13thcentury. For safety and secrecy reasons, the glass furnaces were installed on the island of Murano around that time. Thanks to the exceptionally fine sand of the lagoon, the glass was so clear and transparent that it was sought all over the world. The Murano glass owes its celebrity to the fact that the glass blowers added ash from algae to the sodium glass. In the 15th century, the glass industry in Venice reached its peak.
