Scholl, the originator of the wooden clog, introduces their first collaboration with Berlin based luxury brand GmbH. After its preview during GmbH’s runway show in Paris last October, the footwear will now be available in select stores for the upcoming summer season.
GmbH’s collection, titled ‘Ghazal’, was a celebration of South Asian beauty and culture, as part of their ongoing research into their own heritage. The joint product features a model of the Scholl universe, which was reinterpreted by GmbH’s design team, becoming the Ghazal Pescura. The word “ghazal” refers to a poetic expression of both the beauty and the pain of love, often accompanied by music.
The unisex style is handcrafted in Italy and takes its owner on a journey of comfort and innovative design. Ghazal Pescura took inspiration from one of the most iconic Scholl styles from the ’70, with a massage footbed on top of the wooden sole. This unique detail, that brings relieve and ease to one’s feet, has been kept by the Berlin designers but it now has been paired with a chunky and soft cushioned upper.
To follow the attention that GmbH and Scholl share on sustainability the upper is made of recycled synthetic leather and technical knitted mesh. Colours range from moss green to bordeaux red to silver.
A selection of the collection is available until October 15, 2023, at the pop-up store Heavenly, Zeedijk 716, 8300 Knokke. Open 7 days a week from 11 am to 6 pm. The complete collection is available in selected stores and online at scholl-shoes.com.
