Holland America Line is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year and can rightfully take pride in its heritage and the role the cruise line has played in history. It was the very first to offer its guests meals during their journeys. Before that, travelers had to bring their own provisions, even for the long transatlantic crossings. The significance of food remains at the heart of the experience, reflecting in the De Librije pop-up on board, where guests can indulge in dishes served at the renowned Dutch three-star restaurant. De Librije‘s chef, Jonnie Boer, is also a member of the Culinary Council, a gathering of international top chefs who utilize their global influence to create special dining experiences on the fleet. As a tribute to its anniversary, Holland America Line also introduced ‘De Lijn’ gin, an American-produced gin crafted from a blend of Dutch-inspired botanical ingredients, including orange and rose, complemented by elderberry, lemon, verbena, raspberry, and juniper. You can already savor the taste before stepping on board.
