It only takes a few seconds to recognize one of Wes Anderson’s works — a filmmaker who prefers old-fashioned craftsmanship over digitally generated images in an era where technical ingenuity knows almost no bounds. An ode to craftsmanship and storytelling, Anderson designed the “SCHREIBERLING” — the “scribbler” — inspired by the legendary “baby” pens from the 1910s and 1920s in the Montblanc archive, considered among the smallest writing instruments of their time.
Wes Anderson is no stranger to Montblanc. The Oscar-winning filmmaker created and directed last year’s short film “100 Years of Meisterstück” to honor the 100th anniversary of the Maison’s iconic writing instrument. Anderson brought his unmistakable storytelling and visual identity to the world of Montblanc, marking him as a true storyteller who spectacularly translates the essence of words into images. In this short film, Anderson first hinted at the new “Schreiberling” writing instrument.
The “Schreiberling” Limited Edition 1969, emerging from Anderson’s renewed Montblanc universe, unites historical design and craftsmanship in miniature form. The writing instrument features vibrant green and yellow lacquer, platinum-coated details, and a coral-colored cap referencing one of Montblanc’s early icons. This new interpretation is also adorned with the Montblanc emblem, surrounded by coral-colored precious resin. The edition is limited to just 1969 pieces, marking the filmmaker’s birth year.
The “Schreiberling” is available as part of a writing set in a green tin box with a coral-colored lining, inspired by the toolboxes often seen in Anderson’s films. A notebook, ruler, and green ink cartridges accompany the fountain pen to complete the writing experience.
Like all Montblanc writing instruments, the “Schreiberling” goes beyond aesthetics and tells a deeper story—just as Wes Anderson’s works reveal finely spun narratives beneath their carefully crafted surfaces.
