The Metalcraft series honored with the 2025 Red Dot product design award Merzig – Villeroy & Boch tiles has received the prestigious Red Dot Design Award 2025 in the “product design” category for its Metalcraft collection. The series impressed with its blend of urban industrial style and timeless elegance. With this recognition, Villeroy & Boch tiles sends another strong signal of creative excellence and international design expertise. The Red Dot Design Award is one of the most respected design competitions in the world.
The Metalcraft collection offers a striking interpretation of the aesthetics of urban metal surfaces. With expressive tones such as silver, steel, brown, and black, alongside accent shades like copper, brass, and petrol, it creates a rich interplay of light and shadow, gloss and matte, energy and calm. Depending on the lighting, the appearance shifts from subtle understatement to bold opulence—always refined, always full of character. With a wide range of formats—including large-format wall tiles (40 x 120 cm) and floor tiles in 120 x 120 cm, 60 x 120 cm, and 60 x 60 cm—Metalcraft offers maximum design flexibility, both for private interiors and demanding commercial spaces. From a technical perspective, the series stands out for its ceramic precision, R10 slip resistance, and easy-care finishes such as VilbostonePlus and CeramicPlus.
