Obvious Parfums’ new High Standards collection takes you on a sensory journey of passion, transformation, and heritage. From the bold ‘Frida’s Thorns’ to the mystical ‘Himalayan Spell’ and the historic ‘Malfa Walls’, each fragrance tells a unique story, evoking powerful emotions and cultural beauty.
David Frossard, a visionary in the fragrance industry, founded Obvious Parfums to bring simplicity and sustainability to luxury perfumery. With years of experience collaborating with artisan perfumers and curating niche brands, Frossard launched Obvious Parfums in 2020 with the goal of creating high-quality, eco-conscious scents. The brand stands out for its minimalist approach, focusing on pure, straightforward compositions that highlight core ingredients.
Obvious Parfums quickly gained recognition for its sustainable practices, including eco-friendly packaging and responsibly sourced materials. Frossard’s dedication to blending ethics with elegance has positioned Obvious Parfums as a leader in modern, conscious luxury.
With its ‘High Standards’ collection, Obvious Parfums launches a new collection inspired by the last hideouts where we can still attempt to be ourselves. Real or imaginary places, as many bubbles of beauty and softness, where the soul can quench its thirst. This elsewhere is a luxury, etymologically a light in a darkening world. Three authentic destinations dear to the ‘Gypsetiers’, these Nomads ‘Chic’ living a sophisticated yet bohemian lifestyle. To evoke this authentic luxury, Obvious Parfums called on Julien Rasquinet. This Orientalist, student of Pierre Bourdon, chiseled 3 complex and faceted Eaux de Parfum, inspired by Mexico and Frida Kahlo, Bhutan and its famous Gross National Happiness (GNH) or Salina Island, surely the most beautiful Salina Island… This blend of cultures, relaxation and elegance finds its personification in a chic and casual eco-designed case. Obvious Parfums stays true to its DNA, using the know-how of the Master Perfumer to encapsulate new olfactory emotions.
Obvious Parfums offers, with its High Standards collection, a more complex and faceted vision in perfumery. And who better than the renowned Belgian perfumer Julien Rasquinet to tell us these stories of passion, injuries, love and life. Julien Rasquinet began collecting his first perfumes at the age of 14. After studying business, he went to New York to do an internship at one of the largest perfume companies in the world where he enjoyed playing with the raw materials, which led him to realize his dream was to be a perfumer. He later fell in love with Arabic perfumery and created one of his biggest sales today, Royal Oud. He then started working between Paris and Dubai where he spent 5 years.
I always try to explain a story when I am creating a perfume, I do not like it to be a transcription of what I have seen in nature, I like to have a more romantic vision of the story.
– Julien Rasquinet
Frida’s Thorns Gourmand Floral
A rose that evokes freedom and a complex faceted feminity. Rich in love, pain and desire, a rose refusing to get trapped in the conventional role to which it is too often confined. Flower of passion, magnified by the most beautiful and surprising of spices: cocoa. ‘Frida’s Thorns’ is an ode to Mexico and its icon Frida Kahlo. A committed artist of suffering and genius. A non-conformist fragrance of desire, impulse, sweetness and power. A sultry fragrance of freedom and envy!
Top notes: Raspberry, Pear
Heart notes: Rose, Chocolate, Cocoa
Base notes: Patchouli, Vanilla
HIMALAYAN SPELL Leathery, Floral, Spicy
Like the sea, the tutelary power of the world’s largest mountain inspires respect and admiration. It’s from this famous Himalayan birch wood with warm and leathery notes, that we set out to tell the story: the sorrows and the joys of one of the last impassable frontiers in the heart of the Hindu Kush. A remote and inaccessible place inhabited by Nepalese monasteries and the spirituality of Tibetan Buddhism. The olfactory incantations of subtle raspberry notes, swiftly followed by a powerful sensual animal note, take us to the summit of a mystical mountain, bringing us undeniably closer to the beauty of the Gods.
Top notes: Red berries, Saffron, Black pepper
Heart notes: Nagarmotha, Cedar, Jasmine
Base notes: Suede, Leather, Alsafi Oud
MALFA WALLS Spicy Resin
The small town of Malfa, located on the island of Salina, became famous since the works of Lampedusa and Visconti. The Aeolian island, bordered by sea spray and winds, was the source of inspiration for ‘Malfa Walls’. Sicilian citrus leads the way into the heart of the nave of the Church of San Lorenzo, where the scent of wood panelling vies with the coldness of thick walls dating from 1703. Incense rises to the heavens, carrying with it the prayers and hopes of an entire people.
Top notes: Blackcurrant liquor, Mandarin, Thyme, Orange
Heart notes: Olibanum, Sage
Base notes: Leather, Oud, Cade
