Twenty years after Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami first came together for what became an era-defining collaboration, the House and the Japanese artist are proud to announce the arrival of Louis Vuitton × Murakami, a joyful and celebratory re-edition that reimagines and updates the original collection. Consisting of more
than 200 uplifting creations, the project acts as a modern-day showcase for an enduring creative bond, defined by artistic vision, remarkable feats of traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology, and the timeless appeal of this seminal moment in early 21st-century pop and collector culture.
Murakami Returns to Louis Vuitton – And It’s Better Than Ever
Louis Vuitton × Murakami once again brings together Louis Vuitton’s unrelenting commitment to creativity, innovation and savoir-faire with Takashi Murakami’s supremely imaginative and colourful aesthetic world. Born in Tokyo in the 1960s, Murakami has long been internationally acclaimed for his unique blend of traditional Japanese art, sci fi, anime and whimsical kawaii characters, often brought to life in repetitive motifs and depicted in paintings, sculptures and films that embody the intersection of pop culture, history, and fine art. For Louis Vuitton × Murakami, the playful, yet profound works that the artist created for the original collaboration, initiated by the House’s then Artistic Director, Marc Jacobs – including a kaleidoscopic reinterpretation of the iconic Louis Vuitton Monogram pattern, the first time in its history that it had been reworked – are now celebrated and featured across a wide ranging assortment of the House’s most renowned and coveted women’s leather goods and accessories. Featuring over 40 pieces – from bags to footwear to fragrances – the latest re-edition chapter reunites Louis Vuitton’s unrelenting commitment to creativity, innovation and savoir-faire with the artist’s supremely imaginative and colourful artistic universe.
The creation of each of these products is now shaped by advances in technology, which, coupled with the culture of craftsmanship and savoir-faire at the heart of the House, allows for a greater definition of printed application than ever before, with improved vividness of colours and elevated precision of each of Murakami’s characters and motifs. Among the extensive range of the Louis Vuitton × Murakami collection, highlights include the Monogram Multicolore, its interlocking LV and floral motifs in 33 different colours rendered more resplendent than ever upon the House’s many emblematic City Bags including the Keepall, the Coussin, the Dauphine, the OnTheGo and the Speedy, as well as on belts, wallets, wedge espadrilles, and the eye-catching Rolling Trunk; the playful LV Hands logo on charming Alma BB bags and an elegant silk Carré; the Superflat Panda on sneakers, keyrings and a skateboard; the Superflat Garden and its smiley flowers on radiant Attrape-Rêves perfume bottles; an extended assortment of beautifully worked Capucines bags; the exquisite Cherry Blossom motif on vibrant Papillon bags, platform sandals, and the majestic Courrier Lozine 110 Fleurs trunk.

Ultimately, Louis Vuitton × Murakami is defined by the joyful and enduring nature of the original collaboration. The creative bond between Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami continues to transcend both time and stylistic trends, while crossing generations and communities across the world, and offering creations to be collected and cherished –yesterday, today, and forever.
The launch of the Louis Vuitton x Murakami reedition is celebrated within a fully immersive visual landscape, ranging from window displays to pop-ups and pop-ins, as well as innovative in-store activations and much more. The second chapter will be pre-launched online on louisvuitton.com from 14th March, before being made available in stores worldwide on 21st March 2025. It will focus on the artist’s perfect-for-spring Cherry Blossom pattern.

Louis Vuitton × Murakami Chapter Two
March 2025 sees the arrival of Spring in joyful style, with the launch of Chapter Two of Louis Vuitton × Murakami. As a poetic celebration of Japan’s cherry blossom season, the 20-year anniversary re-edition of the era-defining original collaboration features Japanese master artist Takashi Murakami’s exquisite Cherry Blossom motif meticulously rendered upon more than 40 of the House’s creations.
With its cheerful pink flower heads and graceful petals applied using cutting-edge digital printing to a full range of creations, Murakami’s Cherry Blossom is the central motif of the collection: presented upon the iconic Monogram brown canvas of City Bags including The OnTheGo, The Papillon, The Boulogne, and The Speedy 25; a range of Art of Travel luggage including The Rolling Trunk, The Keepall 45, and hard-sided trunks including the spectacular Courrier Lozine 110 Fleurs which features physical Cherry Blossom patches attached to the surface; as well as smaller leather designs including The Nano Bucket bag and The Zippy wallet. Elsewhere, The Marellini, The Alma BB and one of three different Capucines City Bags are given an all-over, rose-coloured rendering, their joyous surfaces in vibrant ‘cheeky pink’ to match the Cherry Blossom motif.
