With the launch of its latest Sun Perfect innovations, Lancaster continues to blend premium skincare with advanced sun protection. In this interview, Dr. Florence Nadal, Scientific Communication Director, shares insights into the new formulas and why they matter for modern skin needs.
The iconic Sun Perfect Illuminating Cream is now available in a mineral version: the Sun Perfect Mineral Glow Cream SPF50. Why did you decide to launch it, and how does it differ from the original cream?
Dr. N: “The Sun Perfect range is our daily hybrid skincare line designed to combat photo-aging, protect the skin from sun exposure, and visibly correct signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps reduce melanin production. Our iconic Sun Perfect Illuminating Cream is now available in a mineral version in response to requests from some of our consumers. In this new formula, we’ve introduced Lancaster’s patented Full Light Technology™ Protect & Repair, which provides broad cellular protection and helps repair both UVB- and UVA-induced damage, particularly for sensitive skin. This new nourishing cream, with a subtle pink tint, is perfectly suited for light to medium skin tones.”
Consumers often believe that mineral sunscreens are more suitable for sensitive skin. Is that true?
Dr. N: “Yes, mineral sunscreens are generally better suited for sensitive skin that may react to organic filters. Sun Perfect Illuminating Cream has been tested under ophthalmological supervision and does not sting the eyes. This carefully crafted formula strikes the perfect balance between high performance and ultimate comfort for sensitive skin.”
Why was a serum added to the Sun Perfect range — what benefits does this new texture offer?
Dr. N: “The Sun Perfect Unifying Serum SPF50 is a highly potent concentrate that provides broad cellular protection and aids in the repair of both UVB- and UVA-induced damage. With a nourishing yet fast-absorbing texture, this silky serum is instantly invisible on the skin and delivers outstanding anti-photo-aging benefits. It also introduces a new skincare ritual, ideal for those seeking a daily hybrid of skincare and sun care.”
Lancaster’s Full Light Technology and Sun Repair System have both been enhanced to offer more UVA protection and to speed up skin recovery. Why is this important?
Dr. “N: As you know, the number of skin cancer cases has been rising for decades and remains a growing concern. In 2022, over 300,000 new skin cancer cases were recorded, with the highest rates in the US, Germany, and the UK. This highlights the importance of always protecting the skin — and more crucially, repairing sun-induced damage as quickly as possible. In this context, we’re proud to introduce improved UV-repair technology in our 2025 sun care line, addressing damage caused by both UVA and UVB rays.”
