Lamborghini Temerario: A Hybrid Supercar for Every Occasion

First came the Revuelto, then the Urus SE, and now the Temerario. As the third model in Lamborghini’s High Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) line-up, the Temerario marks the brand’s full transition to hybrid power. And while replacing the hugely successful Huracán was never going to be easy, this latest supersports car with a twin-turbo V8 hybrid drivetrain manages to surpass its predecessor on nearly every level.

With an investment of more than two billion euros, Automobili Lamborghini committed to electrifying its entire line-up by the middle of this decade. The journey began with the Revuelto in 2023, continued with the Urus SE in 2024, and now arrives at its third pillar: the all-new Temerario, a cornerstone of the Direzione Cor Tauri strategy launched in 2019. “The Huracán was not only our most successful supersports car ever — it kept getting better throughout its life cycle,” says David Martin, Head of West Europe at Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. “In fact, 2024, its tenth year, became its best year for sales. We set the bar high with the Huracán, but at Lamborghini we love a challenge — and with the Temerario, we embraced it wholeheartedly.”

A Clean Slate

“After ten years of Huracán, it was time for an entirely new chapter — literally a blank, white page,” explains Alessio Tacchino, Product Manager for the Lamborghini Temerario. “Everything is new: the chassis, the engine, even the architecture. Each element was engineered to become a new benchmark for performance, handling and versatility.” The numbers tell the story: 920 hp from a brand-new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 combined with three electric motors. “Sustainability is important, of course, but at Lamborghini hybridisation is primarily a tool to enhance performance,” Tacchino adds. “We wanted more power, more response, and more driving pleasure.” Acceleration is brutal: 0–100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 7.1 seconds, and a top speed of over 340 km/h. But as Tacchino stresses, performance is not only about numbers — it’s about emotion. That’s why Lamborghini chose the V8 as the beating heart of the Temerario. Designed, developed and built entirely in Sant’Agata Bolognese alongside the brand’s iconic V12, the engine alone delivers 800 hp. It’s no ordinary V8: it revs to 10,000 rpm, one of the very few production engines capable of doing so—thanks in part to motorsport-derived technology. Lamborghini calls it “power-friendly,” combining the best of three worlds: instant low-end torque from the P1 electric motor, mid-range muscle from the turbos, and spine-tingling drama at high revs. “Where other supercars begin to fade, the Temerario just keeps going,” says Tacchino.

Heritage Meets Innovation

The most significant leap in handling comes from the advanced all-wheel-drive system featuring a new electric front axle with two independent 110 kW (150 hp) motors — one for each wheel. This enables active torque vectoring, allowing 100% of the available torque to be sent to a single front wheel, dramatically enhancing agility and steering precision. Unlike many plug-in hybrids, the battery is mounted centrally in the chassis tunnel, improving weight distribution and lowering the centre of gravity. It powers both the P1-E motor between the engine and gearbox, as well as the two front motors. The result? All-wheel drive in full EV mode and maximum boost during hard acceleration. Stability, traction and high-speed balance all benefit from this carefully engineered layout.

Thirteen Driving Modes

Versatility is one of the Temerario’s most surprising strengths. There are thirteen driving modes, split into two personalities. Città and Strada provide comfort and daily usability; in Città mode, the car can drive up to 10 kilometres on electric power alone — ideal for quiet early-morning departures or navigating city centres. On the other side of the spectrum lie Sport and Corsa, which unleash the full potential of the drivetrain and chassis, both on road and track. And then there’s Drift mode — a first for Lamborghini — allowing controlled slides even at lower speeds. “Versatility matters, even in supercars,” says Tacchino. “One of the Huracán’s few drawbacks was its limited ease of use. So we improved chassis stiffness by 24% and increased interior space: 35 mm more legroom, 34 mm more headroom, and easier ingress and egress.”
Practicality also improves significantly. The front luggage compartment now fits two standard carry-on suitcases, while an additional two trolleys can be stored behind the seats. Combined with the 13 drive modes, this transforms the Temerario from a weekend indulgence into what Lamborghini calls “a true all-round sports car.”

Design Meets Function

“Design must always serve function,” Tacchino emphasises. With the technical overhaul came a new design language. Lamborghini Centro Stile opted for a pure, timeless, iconic approach befitting the Temerario’s innovative spirit.

The front end, for instance, is sculpted as a cooling air intake for the brakes. Inside the headlamp housing sits an aerobridge — a technical element that also reinforces the visual identity. While the overall language is new, signature Lamborghini cues remain: the twin light units on the bonnet, and the flat shoulder line reminiscent of the Gallardo.

Ad Personam

Design matters, but for Lamborghini clients, personalisation is essential. Through the Ad Personam programme, customers can choose from over 400 exterior colours and numerous interior finishes. Options range from a black roof to full carbon packages. The highlight is the Alleggerita Package, the ultimate expression of performance and customisation. It includes an extensive carbon-body kit — new splitter, side skirts, rear wing, bonnet, and a revised underbody — delivering 67% more downforce than the standard Temerario, which itself already doubles the Huracán’s figure. Aerodynamic efficiency improves by 62%, and weight drops by 25 kg thanks to titanium exhaust components and lightweight glazing. It is the most performance-oriented package Lamborghini has ever offered at launch.

Everyday Impressions

The Temerario impresses with its unexpected everyday usability. Yes, you can go grocery shopping in it — and for a full week, too. The frunk is genuinely spacious for a supercar, easily accommodating two standard cabin suitcases. No need for bespoke luggage; you can put the budget toward more personalisation instead. Starting price: €318,718.
