The Process of Creating a Fragrance
The first step in creating a perfume for La Collection Privée is to define its essence and see its olfactory architecture as a reflection of the structure of a garment. The next step is to work with the constraints of raw materials, much like a couturier would use the drape of fabric. In other words, I must master the olfactory materials to compose a fragrance based on a vision, just as a couturier masters fabric to give it a specific, perfect shape.

Sensorial olfactory stories, rich in contrasts, emerge from this meticulous construction process. I share many traits with Christian Dior—I have a deep love for nature and flowers, an insatiable curiosity about the world around me, and, as a true hedonist, I relish the pleasures of life. Yet, I am also incorrigibly superstitious. These characteristics define me and are infused in the Dior spirit of creation more than ever before. These shared passions have become the creative foundation of my journey with Dior, particularly in my compositions for La Collection Privée, which honor the soul of this House. It is a House founded by a man who dreamed of both dresses and fragrances and who embodied the spirit of a couturier-perfumer as much as a perfumer-couturier.
