For the past few months, Siméon Coiffure in Brussels has been offering the K Première by Kérastase treatment. This four-step treatment restores damaged or broken hair from within. Hélène Karaman, manager of Siméon Coiffure in Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe, explains.
Is K Première by Kérastase similar to the Tokyo treatment you already offer?
HK: No. K Première is a treatment that revitalizes the hair, providing deep nourishment and repair in a short time. We have been offering the K Première treatment for eight months now, and it is specially designed for fragile, brittle, damaged, and dry hair. The Tokyo treatment, on the other hand, focuses on deep regeneration and nourishment. While it enhances shine and softness, it is not suitable for damaged or broken hair and does not immediately restore vitality. With the Tokyo treatment, multiple sessions are needed to achieve significant repair.
What are the key ingredients in the K Première treatment?
HK: The K Première treatment is based on amino acids. The formula contains eight percent pure acids to remove calcium buildup and provide intensive repair. Citric acid, an organic acid, penetrates from the core to the surface to eliminate excess calcium, reducing dullness and stiffness. Once the calcium is removed, glycine, an amino acid, is able to penetrate the inner layer of the hair for deep repair. This process restores broken links between keratin chains, significantly reducing hair breakage.
Can you explain the four steps of the treatment?
HK: In the first step, we apply an oil. In the second step, we layer a shampoo over the oil and let it sit for five to ten minutes before thoroughly washing the hair. It is important to create a good lather and rinse well before squeezing out excess water. In the third step, we apply another oil, followed by a mask in the fourth and final step.
How long should each phase be left on the hair?
HK: Officially, each step should be left on for five to ten minutes. However, in my opinion, leaving each step on for at least twenty minutes under a heat source, such as infrared light, delivers extraordinary results.
Does this treatment leave the hair greasy?
HK: The K Première treatment makes the hair incredibly soft and supple without making it greasy. Compared to the Tokyo treatment, it works much deeper. Considering its cost, K Première is a great option for a special occasion, such as a night out. It is affordable and provides a beautifully soft, polished finish.
How long does the effect last, in your experience?
HK: The results of the K Première treatment last for about two washes, whereas the Tokyo treatment provides visible results for about two months.
What are the results and feedback from clients?
HK: The treatment immediately gives the hair incredible softness, shine, and flexibility. Clients love it, especially when combined with a blow-dry on the same day, as it is very convenient. There are also home-care products available as part of the treatment. Additionally, at 39 euros, the K Première treatment is much more affordable than the Tokyo treatment, which starts at 90 euros.

Do you still offer the Tokyo treatment, or has its demand decreased?
HK: We still offer both treatments, as they serve different purposes. Some clients seek intense nourishment, while others need deep repair. The choice also depends on hair type. For natural hair, we typically recommend the Tokyo treatment, as it provides deep nourishment and long-lasting shine. For bleached or colored hair, we first recommend the Tokyo treatment, followed immediately by the K Première treatment as a complementary step.
