We were lucky and managed to choose a table outside upon arrival. Along with edamame, we also ordered chicken yakitori as a starter, but it was sold out. However, the chicken tenders were available so we opted for these. The panko-fried chicken bites are served with Japanese mayo and katsu sauce (a thicker, sweeter version of Worcestershire sauce, made from ingredients like soy sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, and sometimes a touch of fruit puree or vinegar). Very tasty! The edamame was very salty, and although we are big fans of Bombay Bramble gin, we didn’t enjoy the Red Yakuza cocktail mix with Martini Rubino and Ginger Ale as much. Luckily the sushi rolls could convince us.
We opted for (picture above)
Roll 4 – Tropic Thunder – tempura fried roll, salmon, kanikama, asparagus, topped with unagi sauce, miso mayo and spring onion (14 Euros)
Roll 11 – Spicy Noby Noby – tempura shrimp, avocado, unagi sauce, shishimi togarachi, topped with kanikama and jalapeno’s (16 Euros). A rather spicy sushi roll topped with a sort of crab salad style and green jalapeños.
Roll 12 – Tokyo Blast – oshinko, mango, salmon, tuna, avocado sashimi poke, crispy onions and fugu secret sauce (16,5 Euros) which of course is secret. The sushi roll with avocado and mango tastes refreshing in the mouth.
Roll 16 – Chicken Samurai – katsu chicken, avocado, cucumber, bbq sauce, wasabi mayo and crispy panko (14 Euros).
My dining partner preferred the Tropic Thunder, Roll 12 and the Tokyo Blast as these two were the more pronounced rolls tastewise.
Our favourite roll you find above on the left side
Roll 10 – Candy Crush – tuna tartar, salmon, kanikama, avocado, pop rocks, furikake, topped with wasabi mayo and shredded nori (15,5 Euros) A very tasty but soft tasting roll with wasabi on top but without the heat of wasabi. Very nice and crispy with a spicy aftertaste.
Roll 15 – Sea Dragon – unagi, avocado, cucumber torched with sesame, topped with unagi sauce and bonito flakes (16,5 Euros), we loved the smoky unagi taste of this roll.
For lovers of warm dishes, there’s a wide choice of bowls leg the Donburi Bowl, a savory poke mix with salmon, tuna, avocado, and crispy onions but we wanted to go sushi all the way.
