The technology behind this innovation is LST®eVARiO. It is based on the combination of an LCD module and a photovoltaic cell connected to the filter shield. The photovoltaic cell supplies the LCD module with power and uses the light intensity to determine the level of tinting. If light falls onto the solar cell, the filter shield becomes progressively darker – within only 0.6 seconds. Application tests by evil eye have shown that precisely this time interval is perceived as optimal and pleasant for tinting the filter shield of athletes. Also, the transition from light to dark occurs so smoothly that it is barely noticeable to the eye, demonstrating how the technology has been fine-tuned to provide a natural and comfortable experience. The technology of e-sense next functions with all light sources, not only UV light.
