How do you describe yourself?
DW: I see myself as an Artistic Director with an innate passion for storytelling through scent. My work is about crafting olfactory experiences that evoke emotions, memories, and a deep sense of place.
How would you describe your brand in a few words or a quote?
DW: Goldfield & Banks is a celebration of Australia’s extraordinary beauty, vast landscapes, and rich botanical heritage. Each fragrance is designed to capture the essence of this unique continent, blending sophistication with a spirit of adventure.
What does perfume mean to you?
DW: Perfume is deeply personal to me. My love for fragrance goes back to my childhood—it has always been a part of my life, shaping my memories and emotions. Scent has the power to transport, to tell a story, and to create a lasting impression. It’s not just about the notes; it’s about the feeling a fragrance evokes.
What is your favorite perfume from your range?
DW: Purple Suede holds a special place in my heart. It embodies richness, depth, and a sense of refined luxury—elements that resonate with my creative vision.
What is your latest creation?
DW: My latest creation is Pacific Rock Flower, set to launch in May 2025. This fragrance is a tribute to the pristine coastal landscapes of Australia, where the ocean meets wild, untouched nature.

What is the fragrance pyramid of your latest creation?
DW: Pacific Rock Flower is a creamy-aquatic scent that feels both fresh and enveloping. It features Coral Flower and Cocowax, creating a smooth, sunlit warmth. The highlight is an extraordinary Australian coastal Tea Tree Oil, a note never before used in perfumery, adding a unique and modern dimension.
How does it differ from your other creations?
DW: This fragrance explores new olfactory territories—it’s an oceanic paradise in a bottle. While it carries the signature sophistication of Goldfield & Banks, it introduces an entirely fresh perspective, immersing the wearer in a sun-drenched coastal dreamscape.
If this perfume were a season, which one would it be and why?
DW: It would be an endless summer—a fragrance that captures the warmth of sun-kissed skin, salty ocean breezes, and the laid-back yet vibrant energy of Australia’s coastal lifestyle. It’s a scent that feels alive, luminous, and effortless.
Name a place in the world where this fragrance would fit perfectly.
DW: While Pacific Rock Flower immerses you in the breathtaking beauty of Sydney’s South Coast, where dramatic coastlines meet stunning natural splendour. It’s an olfactory journey to Australia’s most inspiring shorelines.

Is there a story behind your fragrance bottles?
DW: Absolutely. Our bottles are designed to reflect the modern Australian spirit—colourful, exotic, and timeless. They capture the essence of the landscapes that inspire our fragrances, from the deep blues of the ocean to the sunburnt hues of the Outback.
If you had to describe your personality in three fragrance notes, what would they be?
DW:
• Citrus: Because I wake up each day with optimism and energy, ready to embrace new challenges
• Iris: A reflection of my love for refinement, elegance, and timeless beauty
• Agarwood: Representing the depth, mystery and complexity in my character

What is the most challenging aspect of creating a perfume?
DW: Naming a fragrance is always a challenge—it needs to capture the essence of the scent in just a few words. But the most demanding part is translating the vision in my mind into an actual perfume. Working with my perfumer, I aim to bring my inspiration to life, balancing artistry with technical precision.
Is there anything you’d like to add?
DW: I take immense pride in being the first Belgian to create and launch a luxury perfume brand that has gained international recognition. Goldfield & Banks is not just about fragrance—it’s about storytelling, craftsmanship, and honouring the beauty of Australia through scent.
