Antwerp hotspot (approved by Billie Eilish) launches a flavorful, feel-good lunch menu with a Burgundian twist.
Sunshine on your face, a well-filled glass in hand, and a delicious croque on your plate – that’s the essence of Bar D’Henri’s brand-new lunch offering. Known as a cozy evening spot, the Antwerp restaurant is now opening its doors for lunch, too. With a sun-drenched terrace and hearty croques with a gourmet touch, Bar D’Henri is expanding beyond dinner. “We wanted to be more accessible, and adding these rich, Burgundian-style croques seemed like the perfect way to do it,” says owner Séger De Maesschalck (35). Great food and good times – that’s what Bar D’Henri is all about. The restaurant has made a name for itself as a go-to spot for casual drinks, bites, and aperitifs with a plant-based or veggie twist. “I’m not a fan of the word ‘vegan’ being thrown around too much,” says Séger. “Bar D’Henri is about enjoying life, getting great value, and eating well. We just happen to put a strong focus on veggie and plant-based options.” With the new lunch service, guests are now welcome to enjoy Bar D’Henri’s laid-back charm during the day as well. It’s a strategic step to help the business grow and to open the menu up to a wider audience.
Croques with Character
The lunch menu revolves around a selection of gourmet croques – each with its own unique flair. The team favorite? The Croque Flandrien, topped with aged Flandrien cheese and served with a side of punchy mustard. Other options include a goat cheese croque and a mozzarella variation. Unlike the usual fully plant-based dishes, these croques are vegetarian – a slight shift from the restaurant’s typical offerings. “I’m a big croque fan myself, so adding something extra to the lunch menu alongside our signature burgers and apero just felt right,” says Séger.
The decision to open earlier wasn’t made lightly. “I wanted to be more present in the restaurant, and we have this amazing terrace that gets sun all day long,” Séger adds. While the vibe and Antwerp charm remain unchanged, Bar D’Henri now invites you to enjoy a peaceful, sunny lunch break with friends.

Signature Burgers & Apero – All Day Long
If you’re already a fan of Bar D’Henri’s famous vegan burgers and apero platters – don’t worry, they’re not going anywhere. “Our apero is sometimes even more popular than our lunch or dinner,” Séger laughs. “With our spacious terrace and relaxed atmosphere, Bar D’Henri is the perfect place to sip wine, enjoy a mocktail, and share a plate of goodies with friends.” While the restaurant originally leaned into a casual vegan concept, Billie Eilish’s visit in 2023 gave it a strong plant-based identity. Now, Séger is deliberately broadening that image to make the concept more inclusive and accessible. “After Billie Eilish’s visit in 2023, we were quickly labeled as a niche plant-based spot – now we’re opening things up,” says Séger. With this refresh, Bar D’Henri stays true to its core: flavorful food and a cozy, welcoming vibe for anyone who loves to enjoy life.
