Au Repos des Chasseurs has reopened on the edge of the Sonian Forest after a 15‑month transformation, reclaiming its place as one of Watermael‑Boitsfort’s most atmospheric addresses.

Now led by Béate Bischof and her family team, the restored house blends a pastoral spirit with contemporary comfort, designed as an elegant pause for walkers, epicureans, and Brussels’ in-the-know crowd.
A Brussels classic, reborn in nature
Set in a light-filled pocket of greenery, the venue sits just behind The Mix on Boulevard du Souverain, making it both a destination and a serene escape. After years of fading from the city’s dining map, it returns with renewed energy, a refreshed identity, and a clear sense of place rooted in the forest landscape.

Interiors with character (and choice)
A generous front terrace welcomes up to 120 guests, ideal for long lunches and golden-hour apéritifs. Inside, the bar sets a cozy tone with a dedicated cocktail and wine offering, while the brasserie (86–100 seats) leans into soft pastels, natural materials, ceiling mirrors, and bespoke lighting by a Luxembourg artist.

Brasserie craft, steakhouse pleasures
In the kitchen, Chef Adrien Schurgers (formerly La Brasserie de la Patinoire; Le Messager de Bruxelles) revisits brasserie classics with precision and seasonality. Signature favorites include North Sea grey shrimp croquettes (homemade), a generous vol‑au‑vent with house-made puff pastry, and a “Chasseurs” XXL burger, while the steakhouse side (Espace Carnot) highlights bourguignonne fondue and a 400°C hot-stone steak experience.

We treated ourselves to shrimp croquettes generously packed with juicy North Sea shrimp, crispy on the outside and bursting with flavor, alongside classic brasserie dishes — the kind you know and love, but elevated with finesse and just that little extra touch that makes all the difference.

Seasonal focus and business lunches
As autumn arrives, game takes pride of place—think venison, hare, and pheasant accompanied by classic seasonal garnishes (woodland mushrooms, braised chicory, apples with cranberries, quince cream). For daytime diners, the house offers a two-course daily lunch (€29) or a three-course business lunch with coffee (€35).

Private events, and an auberge to follow
Upstairs, three fully restored private rooms (Louise 50; Charlotte 40; Alex 40) are designed for celebrations and corporate gatherings, with modular setups, tech equipment, and a terrace overlooking the woods. A ground-floor ballroom can host 140 seated guests or 220 cocktail-style, supported by in-house event partners (DJ, lighting, and event organization). Next door, the 11-room Auberge du Repos des Chasseurs is slated to reopen in November, following lobby and breakfast-room renovations and a refresh of the rooms.
Au Repos des Chasseurs is open Tuesday to Sunday, continuous service from 11:00 to 22:30 (Friday and Saturday until 23:00), Avenue Charles‑Albert 13, 1170 Watermael‑Boitsfort.
