American Vintage Celebrates Its 20th Birthday

Over 20 years, American Vintage has stood the test of time, growing alongside a world where digital dialogue is key. The brand expanded from France into Europe, then the U.S. and Asia — first through wholesale, later through retail.

Today, there are 138 standalone stores, 34 corners, 21 outlets, 19 affiliated boutiques, and over 1,500 retailers worldwide — American Vintage is now present in over 20 countries.

Stronger than ever

Since 2005, American Vintage has been designing well-fitted, unisex-inspired essentials that you can wear all year round — and across seasons. 2023 marked a turning point: they received their first ECOCERT GREENLIFE textile certification (no. 279937).

In 2024, their RAXOW line debuted — made of 60–71% certified RWS wool. Products certified by the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) contain wool from farms committed to animal welfare and sustainable land management. In 2025, American Vintage will expand RAXOW and develop a second line of certified products.

20 years: the anniversary capsule

The Style, Product, and Pattern Making teams spent months creating a unique collection to celebrate the 20th anniversary of American Vintage. Olivier Richaud and Céline Jeandaine, in charge of the menswear and womenswear lines, share their inspiration.

How was this collection born?

“We wanted to go big — and have fun! The moodboard for this line broke boundaries: we explored new creative paths to evoke a “wow” effect in every cut, fabric, and finish — aiming to leave a bold mark.”

When is the 20 years collection launching?

“It will drop in selected boutiques around the globe and online. The Spring/Summer collection launches in April, and the Fall/Winter edition in September.”

The color palette?

“It started with soft tones like ecru, off-white, grey, and speckled anthracite, and evolved into light shades (blue, celadon, butter, pastel pink), deeper hues (midnight blue, burgundy, brown, khaki), and bold pops of vibrant green.”

In four words?

Patches, logos, maximalism, unisex. We created a new series of statement logos applied confidently to this anniversary capsule.

Anniversary documentary

For nearly four months, German filmmaker Nicolai Fischer followed founder and CEO Michaël Azoulay across France and beyond. They visited Marseille, Signes, Paris, Los Angeles, Antwerp, London, and Brussels — meeting key figures from American Vintage’s 20-year journey. The result? An authentic behind-the-scenes documentary on their website and social media.
