Poilvache est le plus vaste ensemble fortifié du Moyen-Âge conservé de la vallée de la Meuse. Situé à moins de 5 kilomètres de Dinant, le site de Poilvache occupe un éperon calcaire dominant le fleuve et le charmant village de Houx. Les murailles du 13e au 15e siècle, flanquées de tours, protégeaient la «ville» et le «château». L’un et l’autre s’étendaient sur 2,5 hectares.
